Sunday in Ninawachi

After a good nights rest Sunday morning was a time to practice our VBS program. We divided into two groups and added the seminary students into our program. After lunch the group had a chance to play some soccer and toss a football around which Caleb had brought. It was a great time of fellowship and everyone was using their Spanish. Many students and staff members know English so non Spanish speakers also had good conversations. After about an hour of playing sports the group cooled off in river. After dinner we all met in the prayer hut for testimonies and reflection time. Christina and Chris gave testimonies and we all reflected on the conversations and relationships we had already made.

One reflection I had while taking pictures of the group playing sports, happened while Caleb was throwing his football. In Ecuador the sport is soccer and sports using hands are not really played. The Ninawachi students had a hard time throwing the football back to Caleb. One seminary staff member shouted to the student playing with Caleb to throw the ball like he throws his spear. This particular student is from the Waorani tribe and has thrown spears all his life. His technique then improved after receiving this instruction. It made me realize once again what a privilege it is for us to bring the Kings students to the jungle and love on the people here.
