Last full day in the jungle.

Today after a rainy night we had a great devotional by Dora (Ninawachi staff member). She encouraged us to be a light in this fallen world.
After breakfast we had a couple hours of work then walked up the street to the local school. We were greated by some of the staff who remembered us from two years ago.

We did our last VBS and played some games.
This afternoon we are having a fellowship time with the Ninawachi students.

Pray for us as we say goodbye to the students tomorrow. Pray for safe travel back to Quito.

Yesterday

Yesterday morning we had a work morning around the farm. (I posted pictures earlier). After lunch we divided up in our ministry groups and went to three villages. The ninawachi students have been ministering in these villages evey Wednesday.  In the first two village we had about 50 children who participated in our VBS.

The third village was smaller and the community has not been so receptive. Last week the Ninawachi students only ministered to 3 students. Yesterday 13 children came. They were very shy and hardley spoke. As the VBS progressed the children were expressionless. Our TKA students did all they could to bring them love. Little by litte they opened up. As the afternoon progressed the sky got darker and rain clouds formed. Rick (TKA leader) said that he could hear the rain hitting the tin roofs as it approached to where they were. He saw the rain as a metaphor of the spirit of God pouring down on the village. The sky opened up and poured down from heaven. All the children as well as our students played in the rain.
Rick said it was really amazing how the expressions on the children faces changed to pure joy when the rain came.

Pray for these communities that seeds sown will flourish.

Day two in the shuar villages

After getting some council from the shuar cheif at the first village it was decided not to try and return to the village where some opossed us the day before.

Two ministry groups joined together as one, while a few team members went further down the road. They had the opportunity to go to a school where 40+ kids had just finished school and listened to the bible story with excitement. After an object lesson and the bible story an invitation was given and many prayed to receive Jesus in their hearts.

Even with the pouring rain and the disappointment of not being able to go back to the 3rd village we saw God moving among these precious children.

First day in th Shuar villages

Today we got back into a bus and headed to Shuar territoty. We were divided into 3 groups and went to different villages. It was nice to see friends from last year and share with the children. We ministered to about 50 kids total amongst the three villages. Children as well as adults accepted Christ today. Praise God! Tomorrow we go back for a second day. Pray for us! One village was not so receptive and said we were not welcome back. Pray that those opposed would have a change of heart.
This evening we had a great time of worship and praise. We are now in a hotel for the night and will return back to Ninawachi tomorrow after ministry.

First day in the jungle

First day in the jungle We left Quito around 10:30am after a great worship and devotional time. After an uneventful 4 hour bus ride we arrived at the Ninawhachi seminary. The seminary students lined up to great us as we came of the bus. The heat was stifling but hearts were happy. It was great for the returning students to be reunited with old friends. After settling in and having dinner we attended as well as shared in the church service. Matt and Dylan gave testimonies and Tyler preached. All skillfully translated by Edwin. Later we had a debrief in the prayer hut where students shared about their day. Mark Shafer (the incalink missionary) shared about a young man from an indigenous tribe who had just arrived. He had no money money to ribe the bus so had ridden his bike for two days. Amazing determination! I am hoping I can post these pictures and stories. The intetnet has not been great but I will keep writing and trying.
