Our first days at Ninawachi

Hello everyone!

We arrived safely to the Ninawachi Missions School on Saturday afternoon! As always, our hosts were very welcoming and glad to see us!

After dinner on Saturday night, we joined the local community for their church service. Our worship team lead a few songs in both Spanish and English, and Mr. Falkowski preached a sermon to help prepare our hearts for this Easter week. After the service, we had a great time fellowshipping with our borthers and sisters in Christ from Ninawachi.

Yesterday, we spent some time getting acclimated to our new surroundings and preparing for the week. After devotions in the morning, we spent some time preparing for the VBS we will be doing this week. In the afternoon, some students helped Jim harvest two bunches of bananas that  we will be enjoying with our meals this week! The highlight of the day was an afternoon trek through the rain forest to a waterfall, las cascadas del tugsi. What an impressive display of the beauty of God"s creation! The waterfall is about 120 feet high and, because of recent rains, there was much water.

Today we will be working in the morning digging septic tanks, laying cement, painting, and doing other tasks to help prepare the property for the new buildings they plan to build. In the afternoon we will split into 3 teams and visit 3 villages to put on our VBS for the children of the communities. Please pray for our safety and that God will speak through our team and touch the hearts of those we serve.

We look forward to an exciting week serving the Lord! I will share more updates and pictures with you soon.

Good morning from Ecuador

Good morning from Quito! Last night we stayed at Hostal colibri aeropuerto near the airport.

These gentlemen are freshening their breath for the long bus ride.

Time for breakfast!

Because it has been raining so much here, one of the bridges to the jungle has washed away; we will be taking an alternate route to Huaticocha. It will be a longer bus ride, but we will enjoy taking the scenic route! Pray for  our safe travel.

We will arrive in Huaticocha later tonight. The internet connection there isn't the greatest, so it may be difficult to keep everyone updated, but we will do our best!

Almost ready to go...

Hello everyone! Here's your pre-departure blog post for Team Ecuador 2015.

Team Ecuador 2015 is excited for our adventures! Three days from this moment (11:00 AM) we will be in an airplane somewhere over the Gulf of Mexico on the first leg of our flight to Ecuador. Once again I, Mr. Petiti, have received the privilege of maintaining the blog. Starting Friday morning at SFO, I'll be keeping the world up to date on the latest happenings with our team. I'll also be encouraging our students to post their thoughts; I'm sure they will have a much more exciting perspective than I can provide.

We are looking forward to sharing with you all of our experiences as we travel to the Amazon Rainforest. We will be serving at the Ninawachi Mission School in the town of Huaticocha. In the mornings we will be working around the mission school property and helping the missionaries prepare to build two guest homes to house visiting missionaries, English teachers, and other guests. In the afternoons, our team will divide into 3 groups and visit 3 communities to conduct a Vacation Bible School for the children.

Here are some prayer requests for our team:
  • Travel safety
  • That the Parade of Nations in which we will participate next Thursday will be a meaningful experience for both our team and the community of Huaticocha
  • That the Lord will work in the hearts of our students and through the work we do
  • That we will eagerly embrace any challenges that come our way
Make sure to save the link for our blog and feel free to share it with anyone who wants to follow along with our team.
I'll talk to you all again on Friday morning!

The Team Ecuador blog is back in action! I, Mr. Petiti, will be providing you with updates again this year as we travel to the middle of the world.

Just five short days until Team Ecuador 2015 departs for the jungles of Ecuador to serve in the local communities there. Check back later this week for some pre-trip thoughts and prayer requests.
