Day one in the jungle

We have arrived in the jungle! After taking an over night flight through Mexico City we arrived in Quito on time and were met by Mark and Cheryl Shafer. We transferred to a hostel near the airport for some rest and breakfast. After a devotional and orientation we headed to the Amazon basin around 10am.

We arrived to Ninawachi around 2pm. The students and staff gave us a great welcome. After settling in and and having dinner we were involved in a church service. Rick introduced our group and Alex, Hannah, and Christina lead us in 2 songs. Caleb gave a testimony and Robbie translated for him. Robbie did an amazing job with his Spanish. Hannah also gave a very personal testimony. Dylan followed with a sermon about Jesus being the savior for ALL.

Santiago one of the Ninawachi staff members used this evening to ask Venita to marry him! It was really special as a few of us have known these 2 for many years now. They both went through the two year program at Ninawachi and want to continue serving God as missionaries. After the service we all went up and congratulated them!
